What Is a Home Warranty?

Unlike homeowners insurance, which protects policyholders from events like theft, fire and weather damage, home warranties offer protection from everyday breakdowns due to normal use. At HWA, our 13-month home warranty coverage extends from major appliances right down to the essential systems of the home – plumbing, ductwork, electrical systems and more.

New appliances and home equipment typically come with manufacturer or installer warranties that range from a few months to a few years. But home warranties can be renewed year after year, regardless of the age of household equipment.

Coverage options and limits vary among home warranty companies. HWA provides great value at a reasonable price. We offer optional add-on coverage to maximize that value and help homeowners achieve a perfect fit.

Why Are Home Warranties Important?

Equipment and appliance breakdowns aren't a matter of if, but when. Without a home warranty, sellers may experience anxiety, wondering if their aging household systems will develop problems while their home is on the market, and home buyers may wonder how much life is left in the appliances that come with their new home.

HWA's protection gives home buyers and sellers the comfort of knowing they're covered when something breaks down. This makes sales easier to close and minimizes post-sale disputes.

How Do Home Warranties Work?

Not only does an HWA home warranty help control the cost of common household repair issues, it also makes it easier to get service. HWA customers can file a claim online or by phone. Our customer service team will dispatch a pre-screened technician from our nationwide network of service providers.

While there is a trade call fee to dispatch a repair professional, the trade call fee will be the only cost for many covered items.*

To learn more or place an order, find your local sales representative. You can also order online!

*Trade call fee varies by state plan. Depending on your contract, trade call fees may be due when your service visit is scheduled or when a contractor visits your home. This will be stated clearly in your contract. Check the Customer Service section of your contract for current pricing, limits of liability and any exclusions which may require additional fees.
